　　A peaceful town in California turns into a bloodbath when a masked killer haunts the town. Sidney Prescott(Neve Campbell), a young teenage girl, whose mother was killed a year before, becomes the target of the mask killer! Her boyfriend Billy Loomis(Skeet Ulrich) becomes the main suspect along with Sidney's father. Local Tabloid News Reporter Gail Weathers(Courtney Cox) and Woodsbroro's Deputy Dwight Dewey Riley(David Arquette) investigate and try to figure out who the killer is and if it's the same person who killed Sid's mom the year before!

　　故事发生在美国加利福尼亚州。一个原本平静的小镇，却因一个变态杀人狂的出现而掀起轩然大波。此变态歹徒的变态行为出自恐怖片，他戴着面具，穿者黑炮，模仿死神的形象出现，杀害的对象全是年轻貌美的学生，杀人手法相当残忍，令人惊怵。如想生还，必须回答他一些恐怖片的问题，但若答错，后果不堪设想……年轻的学生们在慌乱中等待死亡的问候，电视台的记者在这个时候也来捣乱……
